Our Saturday camp hours are  from 10 am - 1 pm. (June 9 will be our last Saturday when summer camp starts until August 18.) Children may stay the 3 hours with permission and observe other riders when they are not riding. They may bring their lunch. Their lesson time will be at least an hour, with breaks as needed.  If you need to just stay an hour, we can usually accommodate that. This is the best way that the children get the most benefit from every visit, by seeing what other riders are doing, too.  Lessons are also offered after school on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Children may come as early as 2:30 pm and pick-up is by 6 pm. ( Children may be dropped off with permission-and ONLY when Sherry or Sharon are supervising-no children left on the premises without speaking to us. They will still get the same amount of instruction/riding time, but will be able to take a break and observe others riding which is a benefit to them).

Once you are on the schedule-you must take your lessons weekly-if you do have to miss a day or inclement weather-you must make it up within 14 days on another day. Only exception to this is if I am going to a show-and then that day will not count for your lesson day.

One hour lessons are in advance  4 = $180.00

8 = $320.00  if paid individually it is $55.00

Half hour lessons for 5 years and under-$35.00 (buy 4 for $120.00)

Summer Camp

Give your child a gift this summer they will cherish forever! Build confidence, character, self-esteem all the good things you want for your child!  Let your child discover the joy that horses bring into our lives! Summer camp gives them the opportunity to build friendships, social skills, and lots of fun and physical exercise!

We have a great camp every summer for 9 weeks This year begins on June 18 and runs Monday through Friday every week until August 13-17 will be our last week. No Saturdays during the summer as we will be attending shows sometimes for those that wish to participate and demonstrate their skills. Our camp is a training camp for building excellent horsemanship skills on Champion Show Horses and Ponies.

Hours are from 8 am to 1 pm-

Schedule is 8 am - 12 pm-tacking, riding, horse care, trail riding, etc.-children ride in groups and take turns with breaks to cool off-and rest. We sometimes ride "in the rain" with the water hose misting us and the horses enjoy it too.

We have a beautiful, shady trail that we ride on when it is hot. Popsicles and some water are provided-students must bring lunch. 12- 1 pm is lunch, observing advanced riders, cleaning up, etc. In the case of inclement weather, we will go to the red house and watch horse related videos and to cool off as needed. Occasionally we may have a craft to do, but the children are here for the horses and to learn how to ride, so we focus on building horsemanship skills. Camp is appropriate for ages 6 years and up. On Friday we will have a show for parents from 11-12. Younger children may come and have their 1/2 lesson at 1 pm after camp time when accompanied by their parent or caregiver. Children need a shoe with low heel to ride in, and helmets are provided-but I do have shoes and helmets available for purchase.

Cost is $295.00 for 5 days (may be taken consecutively or spaced out through the summer.I must have you on the schedule if you wish to take this option.)

$65.00 for just one day or more if space is available-camp size is limited to 10 campers per day-instructor to beginner ratio is 1:1.

Please mail your non-refundable deposit of $50.00 with balance due of $245.00 on your first day of camp-indicating what days or weeks you will be attending, your child's name, age and contact information to: Shady Paddock Stables-1336 Lt. Congleton Rd. Wilmington, NC 28409. I will call you or email to confirm when I receive your info. and your check-I have many children returning every year and space is limited - you may call or text Sharon Rooks at 910-520-4150 or email equineconsultant@aol.com for more information and I can send you a brochure. Shady Paddock Stables

Our horses are legends, Our students are stars!

Our mission is to help students achieve excellence and success with horses and others in everyday life-to build confidence, character and self-esteem. We have a string of Champion show horses and ponies for lessons and shows.  Our young riders learn complete horsemanship skills. Give your young rider the life changing benefits that positive experiences with horses can bring . We teach Natural Horsemanship methods. Students learn how to be an effective leader for their horse and to speak the language of the horse. They learn how to use their life force to ride like an Avatar-truly connected in a way that brings joy to both horse and rider. They are taught the ancient skills of horse training and the secrets of how to be a Champion with horses and in life.  Lessons can start at age 3 years old and up to adults.

Show fees depend upon show -  I do try to get video of your child's ride and post these on Facebook -Sometimes I can get a short video of your child accomplishing a milestone here at the farm on my phone and send that to your phone. Please make sure I have your number on my phone-I can only send a few seconds using this method-but I love being able to share with you the joy we get to experience!

Occasionally we can trailer ponies to your location-schedule permitting-generally 2 ponies is a $285.00 minimum charge for one hour locally. (within 15 miles) Each additional hour is $200.00 for festivals and fundraisers.

Group lessons at the farm are $250.00 for a 2 hour party-10 children maximum. Each rider will get a 10 minute mini lesson on the horse, sometimes longer depending on number of children.  We usually get out 3-4 ponies and they will take turns riding with an instructor. A great opportunity for photos and a memorable party that has always been a big hit for everyone. Can be rescheduled for rain. A non-refundable deposit of $125.00 is required to book your party.

I have enjoyed the opportunities to work with and learn from some of the best trainers in Dressage, Hunters, Saddleseat, Western disciplines and Foxhunting. I have found my passion in enjoying my students success-as I have tons of awards-now it is their turn. Mustangs are my favorite breed as I have achieved great success with children winning many shows with them. I love the "wild ones" as they bond with you like no other. My  students and horses have been Champions at various local shows for several years, from Leadline to the Open classes. We maintain a Champion string of lesson horses with a variety of breeds including Arabian, Welsh, Paint, Dartmoor, Andalusian, Morgan, Quarter Horse, Thoroughbred, Connemara, Appaloosa and my favorite breed, adopted from the Bureau of Land Management and trained by Sharon Rooks- formerly born in the Wild Mustangs.(I call them American Warmbloods) I have the ability to train any breed to go in optimum way possible for it's particular conformation, and all that I train are superior performance horses. I use Natural Horsemanship methods to train horses. No violence or abuse is tolerated at my place. No jerking of the mouth, etc. is ever used. Training methods are used to preserve the nobleness of the horse. Please call me for a consultation about your horse.

My two Gorgeous Champion Bureau of Land Management Mustangs-Clay and Blue-winning  with my fantastic students.
